My Birthday: May 10th
So, my birthday is May 10th, and let me tell you, it's a pretty sweet spot on the calendar. It's right in the middle of spring, which means the weather is usually pretty decent—not too hot, not too cold. It's like Mother Nature herself is saying, "Hey, happy birthday! Here's some nice weather to celebrate with." Plus, it's far enough from the chaos of the holidays that I don't have to share the spotlight with Christmas or New Year's. Win-win.
The Countdown Begins
The best part about having a birthday in May is that it gives me plenty of time to plan and get excited about it. Unlike those poor souls who have December birthdays and have to deal with all the holiday madness, I get a nice, long countdown. I start thinking about what kind of cake I want around February—yes, I know that's way early, but hey, I like to be prepared. By the time May rolls around, I'm usually full-on obsessed with my birthday plans. It's like my own personal holiday season.
The Big Day
On the actual day, it's all about me (obviously). I mean, it’s my birthday—what else would it be about? I usually start the day with a little treat for myself, maybe some pancakes or a fancy coffee drink. Then it’s time for presents! I love unwrapping gifts almost as much as I love getting them (okay, maybe not quite as much). After that, it’s party time. Whether it’s a big bash with all my friends or just a cozy dinner with family, I make sure to celebrate in style. And of course, there’s cake—always cake. Bonus points if it’s something super indulgent like chocolate lava cake or tiramisu.
The Aftermath
Once the excitement of the day is over, there’s always this weird period where I feel kind of sad that my birthday is over. But then I remember that there are still plenty of other fun things to look forward to throughout the year—like summer vacations and holidays and random weekends where nothing happens but it’s still awesome because it’s not work. And then before you know it, another year has gone by and it’s time to start planning for my next birthday extravaganza. It’s a cycle that never gets old.
